Norwich City had already known their Premier League status by the time they faced Tottenham Hotspur at home on the final day of the season. Demotion to the English Championship had already been confirmed long before the Spurs game, but their final position on the league table had not been decided.

Either Watford or Norwich City could still finish last on the Premier League log ahead of the final day of the season with a solitary point separating the two teams. Watford were second from bottom with 23 points, while Norwich City were last on the table with 22 points. The two teams had a tough game on the final day of the season with Watford at Chelsea.

Norwich City had the chance to finish ahead of Watford on the league table with a win at home to Spurs. However, they were unable to get the result after they ended the season with a big defeat. The Canaries were thrashed 5-0 by Tottenham Hotspur in front of their fans. DejanKulusevski is on loan at Spurs from Italian team Juventus and he scored the first goal of the game before England striker Harry Kane capitalised on the error from Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul to double the lead for the visitors. Swedish winger Kulusevski added a third goal for Tottenham in the second half to complete his brace and take his tally to five goals and eight assists in 18 league games. South Korea international attacker Son Heung-Min then added two more goals to make it 5-0 and23 goals in the Premier League for the season thus finishing as the joint recipient of the Golden Boot award alongside Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah. It was the first Golden Boot award for the South Korean, while Salah had won it twice before this season.

Ross Barkley scored late to give Chelsea a 2-1 win over Watford, but  Norwich City were unable to take advantage thus finishing bottom of the league.
