FORMER ARSENAL AND NORWICH PLAYER SET TO JOIN JOHNSTONE

Charlie Gilmour, a former player of Arsenal and Norwich City is reportedly close to joining Scottish side St Johnstone after the club were rumored to have offered him a contract to move to Scotland. The Scottish Premiership club’s manager Callum Davidson is a keen admirer of the 21-year-old and has been eyeing the youngster for a couple of weeks now.

The defensive midfielder failed to impress at Norwich City after leaving Arsenal and was subsequently released this past October. Ever since he has been trialing at McDiarmid Park with hopes that he earns a fresh start at a new club having suffered several setbacks in his young career.

Davidson was speaking to the Herald where he gave subtle praise to the young defensive midfielder. The coach said he hopes something can be agreed between him and Charlie later this week while insisting that the player may have had a couple of bad moments in his already maturing career but is no doubt a star for the future.

The boss narrated that his potential January recruit has played for Premier League side Arsenal in the Europa League, left and joined Norwich but was unable to set up a career with the Canaries, then left to the Netherlands, but has still found his feet yet. Speaking of the player’s attributes, Davidson mentioned that Charlie is technically gifted, has the right size for a player of his age, is strong, and is the exact type of player they want in the squad.

He concluded by admitting that the club had earlier been interested in Charlie, but it was thought it was not the right time to make a move back then. He however said they are ready to spark an agreement this time around. Charlie will be hoping things work out this time around as he looks to return to playing football once again.
